I was tagged

I have been included in the tagging circle. Anika tagged me, so now I am doomed and have to fill out this thing.

Here go the rules:

1. You must post the rules.
2. Post 12 fun facts about yourself.
3. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you in their post and then create 12 new questions for the bloggers you plan to tag.
4. Tag people.
5. Let them know you tagged them.

Anywho, here are 12 fun facts about me:

1. I am a fierce feminist who despises any sort of dumbness. I can come accross as a nerd at times, but the truth is, I am extremely loud and silly when I know a person well enough. However, I can be quiet and intense as well.. But still insane.

2. I love good music and make these funny medleys in my head. I'll be singing one song and then move to another. Most songs in my head go like picture yourself in a boat on a butterfly, small and safe, in your cocoon; so, sing us the song you're the Mama, didn't mean to make you roll, rolling in the river.

3. I'm not really passionate about anything, however, I do have many, many interests. Most of the time, I try something but then forget about it. Like painting. Or singing. But I love baking and cooking and have been baking since I was 9.

4. I enjoy most subjects. I find some harder than others but I like learning in general. But I hate studying. I find memorizing facts and figures repetitive, boring and useless.

5. I am physically fit and I swim. I do not enjoy it. My coach wants me to take it seriously so I have torturous practice sessions at 5.30 am. I used to enjoy swimming until it became a tedious, annoying and tiring activity.

6. I am scared of deep water. *Waits for you to finish gasping*. I know, I know. I am a swimmer so it's completely irrational. I am not scared of drowning or anything, just scared of the fact that my feet can't touch the floor. I am scared of the indefinite.

7. I am a morning person. I hate swimming at 5.30 am because it's cold and you can't see, not because of the timing. I'd rather do something like study in the morning. I love the peace at dawn

8. I am scared of infinity. The boundless. Because it seems like nothing will end. In some ways, I find death a relief. However, I do feel that it is sad when someone doesn't get to live life to the fullest because they die early. Also, I haven't quite grasped the concept of death yet, although I know lots of people who have died.

9. I keep imagining a perfect world but then I think, nothing would be perfect in a perfect world. There would be no bad, so there would be no good. So, I don't want a perfect world.

10. I LOVE good music. In my opinion, most modern, mainstream is not very good. Especially rap. I adore music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s - Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Queen and Abba, to name a few. Most of the modern music I listen to is not very well-known. Modern artists I love include Mindy Gledhill, Keane, Regina Spektor, Laura Marling and Sea Oleena.

11. My favorite subject is literature. I love the poems and prose and drama and the analysis. There's something about literature that appeals to me. I love to read but I feel most extremely well-known books are slightly over-rated. I read mostly mystery and realistic fiction and other books -if it's fantasy, it has to be really good. I enjoy some non-fiction.

12. I think love has no gender. I support homo- and bisexuals. Also, I don't think it should matter if you're not pretty. Love is about the person, not about what they look like (no, eyes aren't actually a mirror to the soul). I feel you can't really experience love until you are of a certain age. That age is not 12. I hate it when people pretend to be in love for the sake of fitting in. Or do anything they don't believe in to fit in, for that matter.

Phew, that took me two days!
Here go my answers to Anika's questions:

1. Who is your favorite character in any book, movie, poem and so on and why?
I cannot decide. I just cannot. No! I won't. However, if I did decide on one character I love more that all others, it is because that person is really funny and smart or has any special quality that only he/she possesses.

2. Does it even seem rational that Paul Simon is not the one with the blond afro and Art Garfunkel is not the one with the short dark hair?
It does seem rational. I am probably conditioned into thinking that way because I know what they really look like. However, just the name Art Garfunkel makes me think of a dark afro.

3. What are three reasons why you love your favorite book?
Don't have a favorite book but I'll give you 3 reasons I love most of my favorite books -
It has depth and makes me think
It's well written and the plot is interesting
The characters interesting

4. Albert Einstein or Isaac Newton?

All hail Newt-man!

5. What Hogwarts house are you in?

Hufflepuff. Huzzah Hufflepuff!

6. What do you think would have happened if Tom Riddle had gone to Beauxbatons? Don't imagine him in that blue dress that all the girls wear, please.

Sorry, can't answer this question. I'm too distracted imagining the Dark Lord in a formal blue dress and dainty hat.

7. Are you nice to people you don't like? Because you want to be or because you have to?

I generally ignore people I don't like. I am only mean to them if they insist on being around me or they do anything that directly affects me. Sometimes, I am mean because I have to be. Like when somebody keeps following me. Other times, I find it hard to control my meanness. I have snapped and said very mean things to some people without meaning it. I'm not proud of that.

8. Cats or Dogs?

Dogs! Hands down!
Are you really asking someone who has 3 dogs whether she prefers cats?

9. Are you a vegetarian? Is it by choice or by habit?

No, I am a non-vegetarian.

10. DO YOU WEAR MAKEUP? If you do, I might not like you. Unless you're an adult. But high-schoolers, in my books, shouldn't wear makeup.

Makeup? No! I don't wear make up!
Do you wear bananas?

11. What is your opinion of the color pink?
Hot pink? Baby pink? That random in-between shade of purple and pink? Or the kind that looks a bit reddish?
Well, I like most shades of pink. Not fluorescent pink.

12. What is one thing you did that you still feel bad for, even though it wasn't that bad and it was incredibly long ago?

I still feel bad about the time I (almost) sat on a lizard when I was 6. I don't think I hurt it but I must've startled it because it ran away (thank goodness!)

Summer Reading

Yes.
I am back!
I have returned after a long hiatus (nice word, non?) and I'm ready to take on the blogging world!

After being tortured by my text books, I am now free. Free to read and listen to music and blog and bake and go to camp..

I have a reading list this summer.
Of good books - classics.
I'm going to read them and then write reviews.
No, not the whole thing! Just how much I can get though..
However, I have promised myself that I will read at least 60 pages of every book I try.
I have promised myself to try as many as I can but although it's summer, I need to study (let's kill 2 year courses), swim (let's kill my coach) and do other fun stuff (not so murderous now, right?).

Here's the list:

  • Catcher in the Rye
  • The Curios case of Benjamin Button
  • 1984
  • Animal Farm
  • As I Lay Dying
  • Candide, or, Optimism
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Much Ado about Noting
  • Emma
  • The Scarlet Letter
  • The Giver
  • Go ask Alice
  • Lord of the Flies
  • The Hunchback of Notre Dam
  • The Invisible Man
  • Main Street
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest
  • Phantom of the Opera
  • Siddhartha
  • To Kill a Mockingbird
  • A separate Piece
  • A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
  • Tender is the Night
Yes, yes, yes. It is a lot. I'm not actually going to read all of them, just the books I can get my hands on.
I'm borrowing the 1st book from the library today.

Also, I'm planning to start of food-blog with my friend.
Drop by for a cookie, or else you are doomed (seriously, missing out on a cookie is just sad)

Surprises

You know that feeling when you're looking at the computer screen and shaking your head, wondering why you haven't heard of Mindy Gledhill before? Or a amazing Fleetwood Mac song that's even better than Go your own way? Or an assignment that is due the next day?
Because, hey! Mindy Gledhill is absolutely amazing, every Fleetwood Mac songs seems to be better than the other (if that's possible) and the school keeps giving us homework.
So I should know about all this!

But NO! It has to be a surprise!
Don't get me wrong, I love surprises but sometimes, I wish I didn't know them so late. That way I'd be listening to Mindy Gledhill since I was a child, humming along with Stevie Nicks to Landslide and actually finishing my homework without rushing and waking up at 6 am (which I have to do now anyway. Argh!)

Signing off with my current obsession,
Anya Starlight

My current obsession - I Do Adore and Tears in Heaven. Also, Speak by Judy Blundell.

Talk

You're confused about something. Someone explains it to you. Two hours later, you're confused again.

Has that ever happened to you?

There are some people who just orate so well, they could be talking codswallop but you listen anyways.. And think you understand what they're saying.

There are people who make use of their "gift of the gab" and use it to their advantage. Take Mark Antony for example. Actually, wait for a while - let me sigh over my first crush and doodle a few hearts.
Anywho, this charming guy had all the plebeians in Rome fall in love with him with his whole "Brutus is an honorable man" speech.

Another good example is this guy I know who calls himself a faith healer. People swear by Patrick. Apparently, he has cured cancer and when I met this man, I actually had fun talking to him but I realized he just psychologically manipulates everyone into thinking that they can be cured.

There are many other pettifoggers with serious cases of logorrhea who can either befuddle or dazzle you with their speech.

Beware - words can mislead.

Oh, I almost forgot!

Insecure

In my 13 years, I've probably felt insecure many times but I would not call my self an insecure person.

I have met people who are so defensive and suspicious of other beings because they feel there's something wrong with themselves. Often the only thing that's wrong with them is that they are so insecure. That makes them uncomfortable and therefore awkward, constantly analyzing the behavior of others with questions spinning around their heads. Is she talking about me? Why are they eyeing me like that - did I do something wrong? The answer is probably yes. When your staring at someone with your faced screwed up in wonder and a questioning look in your eyes that's getting defensive; the person will immediately stop what he/she's doing and start wondering what's wrong with you. Then, the person'll talk about it.

People are insecure for so many reasons but mostly, they're of the same nature. The real issue to analyze is that how do people project their insecurity?
Most get defensive, constantly paranoid, attacking people who happen to look in their direction. Others do nothing, in the fear they are doing something wrong. People become rigid and afraid to let go, scared that others in the crowd will make fun of them. They hide. They live in a little hole; afraid to be seen. Some people, especially teenagers, adopt a "don't care" attitude. That attitude also shields them from getting hurt.

I have noticed that so many people are insecure. Not just those shy kids in the corner. You'll come across a popular cheerleader, the captain of the sports team or even an authoritative boss who is insecure.

Insecurity can lead to so much - some things to disturbing to talk about but there's one thing for sure - people who are insecure need help. Although insecure people seem just fine on the surface, I am sure all of us can look a little deeper and see that there's something wrong. I don't think we have to go and counsel that person or anything but you can make the person's life a little bit easier. Just let them know that you don't hate them. You can also try being nicer to them. That's a difficult task because their defensiveness makes them annoy-ing but believe me, it helps them so they loosen up a bit and become easier to be around.

Long Live

My first internet meme. Here it goes-

My Life in iTunes
RULES:
1. Put your iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc. on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS.
4. Tag 15 friends
5. Everyone tagged has to do the same thing.
6. Have Fun

1. If someone says "Are you okay?", you say
Sunrise
NO! I'm not okay. This song drives me mad. I love it sooo much!

2. How would you describe yourself?
Rhythm of Love
Love has no rhythm unless it has something to do with your mom, friend or dog. Romance is tuneless and baseless.

3. What do you like in a guy/girl?
Sparks Fly
Yes! Romance gets me so mad, I'll let sparks fly.

4. How do you feel today?
Complicated
Yup. You mere mortals won't understand what I'm feeling today. It's too complicated for you. But I'll try to explain it to you. I am tired and mad at my teachers for giving me homework.

The man who can't be moved
Yes, it is to listen it a million times. It's one of the best songs EVER WRITTEN!!!!!!!!!! Listen to it! Now!!

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
That's not very nice. I'm not a crier but if my friends think I'm as awesome as that song, I'm completely fine with that!

8. What do your parents think of you?
Who Says
That doesn't make any sense but they're always giving me lectures related o the song. "Who says you can't do it? You'll make it!"

9. What do you think about very often?
Don't make me Over
How did you know? I will never ever let anyone change me without my permission.

10. What do you think of your best friend?
IITBO-02001_10304029
That just mad no sense whatsoever. That is not a song. It's one of my moms assessments.

11. What is your life story?
Hey Jude
Hey everybody. Looks like my life is gonna be filled with greeting people.

12. What do you want to be when you grow up?

13. What will they play at your funeral?
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Awkward... But I don't care what it's about. They'll play it as one of my favorite songs. I love it!

Yup. It's listening to Glee covers like this

15. What is your biggest fear?
Endless Love
EXACTLY!!!! It's the fear that everyone will fall in love (maybe even me??) and become sappy and in-love. GOD!!

Weightless
Hey. Almost everyone knows I'm underweight. It's no secret. But you know what! I'll start wearing really long, loose clothes so no one will notice.

17. What do you want right now?
Today was a fairytale
In fact, it was. I beat these 2 AWESOME girls at swimming in breaststroke. (One of them is a national level swimmer). I want the fairytale to continue forever.

18. What do you think of your friends?
Come Away With Me
Yeah. Come away with me and we'll have fun. You know, I am going away with friends on a trip soon.

19.What will you post this as?
Long Live

Food

I've always had a small appetite but loved good food. People always accepted that. That is, until now.

I have a swimming competition in around 3 weeks and my coach and parents are all forcing me to eat way more than I handle. This is my daily menu-

23 toasts with 1 pound of cheese, 3 pounds of peanut butter, 45 eggs and 87 almonds for breakfast

44 bananas and 62 apples for a mid-morning snack

Anything that weighs more than 7 pounds for lunch

17 sandwiches and 66 bananas in the evening

And finally, anything weighing more than 5 pounds for dinner. Dinner is followed by 3 gallons of juice and 18 bowls of fruit...

Okay.. Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but I am so sick of food!!!!!!

I'll sign off after this rant.

G'day!

My current obsession: Anything that doesn't remind me of food. Maybe Bones. But NO!, they have calcium which is present in milk!!! AHHHHHHHH....
